Hattori didn't sleep quite as lightly as Conan did on a good day. Tonight wasn't one of those. He felt something was off. They'd forgotten something or overlooked some critical detail. He'd started to finally drift off when he heard the door open. Why was Conan sneaking out? He opened his eyes and looked up.
"Ah!" He cried, rolling off his bed quickly out of reach of some dark figure. The other one had Conan already! He yanked the IV off his arm and ignored the trickle of blood it caused. Snagging the pole an IV bag used to hang on but wasn't in use, he swung it like a staff.
All the motion happened so fast, the thug didn't have any time to react. He didn't move before the metal pole was crashing against the side of his head, knocking him out cold. The other one tossed Conan to the side and charged Hattori. The two fell to the floor, struggling.
A nurse came to the door and screamed. She'd heard Heiji's initial cry and had come to investigate what she'd guessed was a nightmare. She went dashing over to check on Conan.
All the commotion ended as Hattori had his arm wrapped around the man's neck. He dodged a headbutt, only for the criminal to knock himself out by hitting the floor instead. The Osakan native muttered a curse when the large man was unconscious right on top of him, but he managed to shove him off.
